Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
The first words of the Hail Mary come from the Angel Gabriel, sent to a young woman in Nazareth with the most extraordinary news in human history: “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.” — Luke 1:28
The second from her cousin Elizabeth, who felt her own baby leap in the womb the moment Mary walked through the door: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” — Luke 1:42
